At the 25th annual Kids' Choice Awards, the slime runneth over.

Host Will Smith opened the 25th annual Kids' Choice Awards promising a record amount of the show's trademark green gunk. Though some 20 awards are presented at the KCAs, the real suspense isn't who will take home a "Blimp" (the show's Oscar), it's when and on whom the slime will spill.

It's like a baptism into kid-dome that can come at any moment: from a hidden bucket, dumped from the rafters or exploded from little orange blimps.

"No one is safe from the slime!" screamed Smith. "You have to earn the slime! It's an honor."

Halle Berry was the first to be covered, but she was far from alone. She was joined by "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner (who won favorite "buttkicker"), "Glee" star Chris Colfer and male singer winner Justin Bieber, who was utterly drenched along with Smith at the end of the show.

The KCAs are Nickelodeon's annual celebration for kids, and it's often the most-watched children's program of the year. They draw a considerable roster of stars looking to thank their smallest fans and cater to their youngest demographics.

"This is, like, the coolest award show ever," said "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart, accepting the award for favorite movie actress.

Smith, himself a 10-time Blimp winner, started the show with an elaborate, digitally-animated skydive from Nickelodeon's trademark blimp. Smith was then hoisted from the rafters to the stage of the Galen Center at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where thousands of glow-stick waving fans cheered him ? including first lady Michelle Obama.

Obama later presented "the big help" award for charity work to Taylor Swift. Upon receiving the award, the pop star said, "I am freaking out."

Nickelodeon introduces many kid-friendly quirks to the usual award show festivities. It rolls out an orange carpet, rather than a red one, and envelopes are the last way winners are announced. Saturday night's choices came by way of a sword eater, a statue impersonator and giant heads held aloft from the crowd.

Winners are chosen from voting online. Selena Gomez won for both favorite TV actress and female singer. Adam Sandler took home the award for favorite movie actor. And Katy Perry, shortly after performing, was given the award for favorite voice in an animated movie for "Smurfs."

"The only reason why I'm still here today ? and remember this ? is because I've never grown up!" Perry told the young audience.

More than 7.3 million watched last year's awards. This year, Nickelodeon badly needs the KCAs to continue such a success. In March, for the first time, the Disney Channel beat out Nickelodeon in average total daily viewers ? a title Nickelodeon had held every month since 1995.

Nickelodeon's own series "Victorious" won best TV show. Jake Short, star of the Disney Channel's "A.N.T. Farm," won best TV actor.

But the most ceremonious moment of the KCAs is the slimey finale. The honor ? which Smith said had been chosen by online votes ? went to Bieber, who made a surprise appearance late in the show. Smith clutched Bieber as fountains of slime poured out across the stage, while Obama ? splattered by a few drops ? danced in the seats.

Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease, which could even lead to death if it is not treated during the initial stage. Asthmatic attacks due to asthma in children could make them miss their school as well as disturb their daily routine. Lungs are the most essential organs of respiratory system of our body that is vital for breathing properly.

When the lungs are not supplied with the required quantity of air because of some obstruction or hindrance, then in such situations lungs itself make an effort to complete the necessity of the body cells and this effort leads to labored breathing. This specific symptom leads to major asthma problems.

In order to prevent the asthmatic attacks the individual suffering from asthma must carry an inhaler.

The inhaler is a device that helps in lessening the severity of asthmatic attack. Simple ayurvedic treatments aimed towards children could help a child in fighting with asthma courageously enjoying their childhood at same time.

Asthma in children could be of three different types namely, the dry type asthma, congestive type asthma and infection type asthma. To treat dry type asthma, the child should increase the intake of fluids. The intake of fluids increases moisture and also oxygen in the body of the child. Besides this, the child should be covered warmly so that the body of child isn?t exposed to cold wind or weather. Sesame oil could be used for massaging their body retain the body moisture. The child must not consume the dairy products, nuts and all foods that are cold, rough and raw.

In the infection type, the child should consume lot of water, and avoid extreme exertion, eating anything past 10:00 pm, avoid fried foods, and must try eating fruits and vegetables instead of red meat & dairy products such as yogurt. Ayurvedic treatments for a child prone to infections include consumption of turmeric in some form since it helps in growing the immunity. Exercising lightly could also help in building strength and increasing immunity.

For asthma of incongestive type, the child should avoid non vegetarian food, dairy products and excess of sugar and salt. Bitter vegetables could aid the child in increasing mucus circulation and will also prevent congestion problems. Massage using mustard oil too is good for controlling Asthma in children. Parents must guide the children to do few cardio exercises or play some outdoor games.

Self-Destructive Self-Improvement ? Mental Health Food

My first house was built in the late 1890s and generations of previous owners left their belongings in the attic. It was just a bunch of junk according to the previous owner. I could throw it away or give it away, it didn?t matter to him.

To my surprise, sitting in the corner of the attic was a dusty, old Singer Sewing Machine, the kind with the treadle. One man?s junk is another man?s treasure.

My husband couldn?t understand what I could possibly want with that dusty old thing or why I thought I belonged in our dining room.

I am admittedly domestically challenged. I got Ds in Home Economics (who measures when they cook? Why sew?when you can go to Walmart?)

I couldn?t thread a needle if my life depended on it (if a button falls off, the outfit is trash as far as I?m concerned.)

But, now all of a sudden I wanted a sewing machine in my dining room?

He actually offered to buy me a ?real? sewing machine that ran on electricity if I wanted to try sewing. He was tired of paying to have stripes sewn on his military uniform.

He just couldn?t understand why I wanted that old-fashioned dusty one instead of a new shiny electric one.

Eventually he understood. All it took was a little Lemon Pledge. The dust came right off and the machine soon became one of our prized possessions. The scratches add character (and value, I?m told.)

My husband wouldn?t consider getting rid of it now. Three houses later, it is still in my dining room.

No, I don?t USE it; I like to LOOK at it.

What do you REALLY see when you look in the mirror?

Do you see a worthless old-fashioned, dusty, scratched machine or a valuable antique that just needs a little Lemon Pledge?

We are all on a quest for self-improvement. But self-improvement can be self-destructive if we are not careful with our self-talk.

It is far too easy to fall into the negative self-talk trap as we self-improve. You know, ?you will be a better person after you drop all that weight, finish your degree, get a job?? or whatever your improvement project du jour happens to be.

When you catch yourself destroying yourself, stop and immediately affirm yourself. Otherwise you may wind up storing your natural beauty in the corner of your attic and denying yourself to the world. Affirmation is the Lemon Pledge of life.

Healthy eating, exercise, education, reading and travelling are all excellent ways to create personal growth, but in so-doing, we must remember not to ignore our present self-worth. You are valuable NOW.

Self-improvement is merely a way to remove the top layer of dust.

Dusting and polishing did not increase the value of my sewing machine. It was valuable all along. So are you, dust and all.

You are already that beautiful antique sewing machine. All of the self-improvement that you are doing is merely bringing out your natural shine.

Self-improve until you glow but don?t hide in the corner of the attic while you do. Put yourself on display for the world to see.

You are beautiful as-is, even if you need a little dusting every now and then.

With temperatures rising far above normal for this time of year, the famous Washington, D.C., cherry blossoms have already started to bloom. NBC's Brian Williams reports.

This year's National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., kicking off Tuesday, is the centennial celebration and is expected to bring record-breaking numbers of tourists and revenue to the city.?The festival runs through April 27 ? a five-week celebration rather than the usual two.?

Washington Mayor Vincent C. Gray called the festival??one of the biggest events, if not the biggest event of the year for Washington, D.C.?

Gray is hopeful visitor revenues during the festival could reach $200 million, ?since the economy is better and this year is the centennial,? he told msnbc.com. In 2011, the festival generated $126 million in tourist dollars.

No projections have been made for the number of visitors this year. However, for a frame of reference, about 1 million visitors attend the festival on typical years when the event is two weeks long.

The festival began in 1912, when Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo presented 3,000 cherry trees to the city of Washington, D.C., in honor of the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan. The gift was coordinated with help from officials of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Geographic Society; first lady Helen Herron Taft; and Dr. Jokichi Takamine, a chemist who founded Sankyo Co., Ltd., a company now known as Daiichi Sankyo, which sponsors the festival.

The 3,000 trees were planted in the Tidal Basin; almost 100 of these still survive. The Japanese government gave first lady Lady Bird Johnson an additional 3,800 trees in 1965, which were also planted in the Tidal Basin. These were joined last year by more than 160 additional trees, planted at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, located in the Tidal Basin.

The National Park Service predicts the peak bloom period?will be March 20-23 with an average peak bloom date of April 4. The trees are expected to bloom into April throughout the city and some of its suburbs.

Diana Mayhew, president of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, said a record number of Washington, D.C. restaurants and hotels are participating in festival-related promotions, including more than 100 restaurants ??up from 83 last year ??and 55 hotels.

Destination DC, the city?s tourism promotion organization, is providing toll-free telephone service (877-44-BLOOM) for inquiries about the festival. "Phones continue to ring with interest," said Elliott Ferguson, Destination DC's president and CEO. "I'd like to say it's going to be phenomenal, bring a lot of international business."

Do the Math: Santorum's Best Shot May Be Gingrich's Remaining in the Race

Rick Santorum's Dixie double has renewed calls from supporters and pundits for Newt Gingrich to drop out of the Republican presidential primary and allow Santorum a proper one-on-one duel with frontrunner Mitt Romney.

But the conventional wisdom may be falling flat in the face of simple math.

Even after Tuesday night's results, Romney leads the race to the nomination-clinching 1,144 delegates by an overwhelming margin -?496 to second-place Santorum's 252. Newt Gingrich, in third place, ahead of Ron Paul's 48, has won 133. So with just over 40 percent of the delegates awarded, it would take, as Romney's aides say, "an act of God" to see their man lose his lead.

Given Santorum's significant delegate deficit, his best hope of consolidating the more conservative vote - and more importantly, the resulting delegates - is to have Gingrich stay in the game all the way to the convention floor in Tampa, Fla.

Waiting on the Lord may be an option for Team Santorum, but ganging up with Gingrich might be the better play. If the former Speaker's campaign keeps amassing delegates, Gingrich could accrue enough support that, when coupled with Santorum's, the total meets or exceeds that of the current frontrunner.

"The key to Santorum's strategy is to keep Romney's delegate count low and keep Santorum close," says GOP strategist Soren Dayton, who worked with a number of current Santorum advisers on the McCain campaign in 2008. While Santorum would rather go it alone in some winner-take-all states like Wisconsin and Maryland (April 3), having Gingrich in the running supports the broader strategy.

Whatever the plan, an official Santorum-Gingrich alliance remains unlikely, according to another Republican operative. Convention floor shenanigans require the organization and management of a lot of moving pieces, and even with the Speaker vowing to take the fight to Tampa, there's some doubt anyone in the current field is capable of marshalling all his delegates in such a tense and chaotic setting.

Still, if Gingrich were to leave the race now or in the coming weeks, not only would this option go out the window, but there's no evidence in current polling that Santorum would benefit from the fallout. The myth of the "Gingtorum" vote seems to be just that. Polls done last night showed no indication that the Gingrich vote would flock, en masse, to Santorum if their guy were to drop out. In fact, most of the figures show that Gingrich and Santorum voters go to the polls for very different reasons.

"Gingrich won voters in both states focused on the candidate with the best experience to serve as president," writes Gary Langer, ABC News poll maven and Langer Research Associates president, "and experience, as in previous states, was weak for Santorum."

In the case of Gingrich's theoretical departure, one can reasonably expect his supporters to do one of four things - flip to Santorum; turn to Romney; jump on board with Paul; or just avoid the ballot box altogether. That kind of fracture would do little to change the dynamic of the race.

"The nomination is an impossibility for Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich," a Romney campaign strategist told reporters a week ago in Boston. But Gingrich himself disagrees, telling?ABC News Senior Political Correspondent Jonathan Karl on Tuesday night,?"We're actually helping because between us - Santorum? AND I - are stopping Romney."

He can certainly try - he's promised he will, one way or another - ?but as one GOP consultant who worked with the Perry campaign this season told ABC News with a sigh, "Romney is going to be our candidate. I can't see anyway he will not be. We should all get behind him and make the best of it."
